Website design for UK businesses
New builds quoted per site; looking after a site is part of Everything, £2,986 a month plus ad spend
Updated
Padon does website design for UK businesses in any sector. We work on the site you already have, on Wix, WordPress or custom code, or build a new one that loads quickly and makes getting in touch easy. A new build is quoted per site, and looking after a site is part of the Everything package at £2,986 a month plus ad spend.
What our website design service includes
There are two ways in.
Working on the site you have, whether it runs on Wix, WordPress or custom code. We look at what’s there and fix what’s broken, without starting again.
A new build that loads quickly and makes getting in touch easy, quoted per site.
How fast a business website should load
Google publishes the yardsticks, called Core Web Vitals. They measure real-world experience of loading, responsiveness and visual stability. On web.dev, Google gives the targets for a good experience:
- the main content appears within 2.5 seconds of the page starting to load (Largest Contentful Paint)
- the page responds to a tap or click within 200 milliseconds (Interaction to Next Paint)
- the layout shift score stays at 0.1 or less, so buttons don’t jump about while the page loads (Cumulative Layout Shift)
Google suggests measuring Core Web Vitals at the 75th percentile of page loads, split by mobile and desktop. That means at least three in four page loads should meet the target.
Customers use your mobile site, and so does Google. Google uses the mobile version of a site for indexing and ranking, and says the mobile site should contain the same content as the desktop one. A plumber’s site that hides its service areas on phones is hiding them from Google too.
Making it easy for customers to contact you
The aim is that someone who has decided to contact you can do it without hunting. For a plumber in Swindon that might be a tap-to-call number near the top of the page. For an estate agent in Chelmsford it might be a way to book a valuation.
Google’s page experience guidance asks whether pages avoid intrusive interstitials and whether they’re served securely, over HTTPS. Both are worth getting right anyway. To test your own site, our note on a 20-minute check for a website that isn’t getting enquiries walks through the contact form, the phone link and Core Web Vitals.
How much a website costs
A new build is quoted per site, so a one-page site for a café in Whitby and a shop with hundreds of products each get their own quote.
Looking after the site is part of Everything, at £2,986 a month plus ad spend, which is Search and Ads together for less than the two apart, the website looked after, and a call every month. Ad spend is paid by you straight to Google and Meta from your own accounts, within monthly caps you approve. Padon never holds it.
Every package starts with a one-off setup fee, which we quote, and then runs a month at a time with 30 days’ notice.
How it works week to week
First we look at everything you already have: the website, your analytics and any ad accounts. We fix what’s broken and agree what you’re happy to spend and what a good week looks like. For a dental practice that might be new patient enquiries. For an e-commerce shop it’s orders.
Every week we read what people searched for, what they clicked and what it cost, then keep what works and stop what doesn’t. Ads are reported weekly and search monthly, and Everything includes a call every month. The search side is explained on the SEO services page.
What we need from you
Access, given through each platform’s own user tools, so nobody shares a password. WordPress lets you create a separate account with its own role. Wix has an Invite Collaborators option under Roles and Permissions. In Google Analytics, an Administrator adds users from Admin, under Access Management.
A fact sheet, confirmed by you before we start. We publish only facts you’ve confirmed and never invent facts, figures, reviews or testimonials, so a new site won’t arrive with a row of five-star quotes from people who don’t exist.
Who it suits
Any business whose website is where customers decide whether to get in touch. That covers a physiotherapy clinic in Cheltenham whose booking page is slow on phones and an accountant in Norwich whose site was built for desktop screens. An online shop that wants its product pages to load faster fits too.
What results to expect from a new or improved website
Google says good Core Web Vitals scores don’t guarantee a page will rank at the top, and that it always seeks to show the most relevant content, even when page experience is sub-par. And Google is plain that no one can guarantee a number one ranking. We track where you stand and show it in every report.
Speed improvements show up in Google’s own field data gradually. The Search Console Core Web Vitals report is based on real-world usage over the last 28 days, and validating a fix starts a 28-day monitoring session.
For a first look, the free check compares your business with its competition nearby, and we email a short report within two working days.
Questions
How much does a new website cost with Padon?
A new build is quoted per site, so a café and an online shop each get their own quote. Looking after a site once it's live is part of the Everything package, £2,986 a month plus ad spend, which also includes Search, Ads and a call every month. The Everything package starts with a one-off setup fee, quoted for your business.
Do I need a new website, or can you work on the one I have?
You may not need a new one. We work on existing sites built on Wix, WordPress or custom code, and fix what's broken there without starting again. If you would rather start fresh, we build a new one that loads quickly and makes getting in touch easy, quoted per site.
How fast should a business website load?
Google's Core Web Vitals give the targets. The main content should load within 2.5 seconds (Largest Contentful Paint), the page should respond to a tap or click within 200 milliseconds (Interaction to Next Paint), and the layout should barely shift while loading, a CLS of 0.1 or less. Google suggests measuring at the 75th percentile of page loads, on mobile and desktop separately.
Will a faster website rank higher on Google?
Not on its own. Google says good Core Web Vitals scores don't guarantee a page will rank at the top, and that it always tries to show the most relevant content even when page experience is poor. Google also indexes and ranks the mobile version of a site.
Do I need to give you my website password?
No. Access is given through each platform's own user tools. WordPress lets you create a separate account for us with its own role, and Wix lets you invite a collaborator from Roles and Permissions on your dashboard. Nobody shares a password.
